Vitamin B12 Hangover

Does Vitamin B12 Get Rid of a Hangover?

Head’s killin’. Brain is lost in fog. You’re in a bad mood. Stomach is… well, not good.

You have a hangover from a fun night, but the only think you want now is to make it go away. Will a B-vitamin complex packed with B12 help get rid of the hangover?

First, you need to know what’s happening to your brain.

Alcohol is a diuretic, which causes you to lose vitamins and nutrients. Losing vitamin B can include B1 (thiamine), B2 (riboflavin), folic acid, B6 and B12.

Vitamin B12 may be the most vital when it comes to recovering from a hangover.

Why? B12 is critical in brain and nervous system functioning.

Your liver is also working to detox your body from the alcohol, and guess what… B-vitamins help with that, too.

(Yeah, they’re pretty amazing.)

So, if your body and brain are depleted of the crucial B-vitamins, it certainly could take longer to recover from a hangover.

That’s the brain fog and sick, lethargic feeling. (And ya bad mood!)

Time to replenish the troops!

Is B12 an Emergency Hangover Cure?

First, don’t think of any supplement as a “cure.”

Since your body doesn’t make B12, you have to get it from food or supplements. There essentially are two types of B12.

According to Healthline.com, “cyanocobalamin is a synthetic form of vitamin B12 found only in supplements, while methylcobalamin is a naturally occurring form that you can get through either food sources or supplements.”

A healthline.com article stated that an easy-to-absorb B vitamin complex may help alcohol drinkers maintain healthy B vitamin levels.

Velovita Bran Reimagined 3-Pack

Velovita’s Brān Reimagined includes 120 mcg of B12 methylcobalamin, which is 5,000% of the recommended daily value. It also has 9 mg of B6 (pyridoxal 5′-phosphate—the active form of B6).

So, what we’re talking about when we look at B12 getting rid of a hangover is replenishing what’s been depleted.

It’s not “numbing the pain.” It’s a matter of trying to re-establish a balance.

In fact, taking a B-vitamin complex rich in B12 BEFORE drinking alcohol can help prevent feeling like crap. Drinking lot of water can also help, since alcohol can dehydrate you.

A study posted on the NCBI site titled “Consumer Satisfaction and Efficacy of the Hangover Cure After-Effect” noted that 88 percent of people in the study who took B-vitamins supplements reported a reduction in hangover symptoms.

Keep in mind there are several other effects of drinking alcohol enough to cause a hangover, so again, don’t think of B12 as a “cure.” But as we’ve said, it certainly can help get rid of those horrible hangover feelings.

In addition to the B12 and B6 stated above, Brān Reimagined is also packed with Niacin (vitamin B3) and 775 mg of Velovita’s proprietary blend that includes PEA for enhancing mood, DL-phenylalanine for blocking the breakdown of endorphins, L-Theanine that promotes relaxation without drowsiness, Alpha-GPC to support cognitive functions including memory, along with several other natural ingredients.
